Scribbled Lives Week 4—Buzz Words
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” Paul Coelho
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been lettering on fabric and learning to build box structures. When this week’s prompt arrived, it brought the unique opportunity to combine these new-found skills.

Pebeo fabric marker, book cloth, and Eska binder board.

I first attempted to use fabric paint to handletter the text, but it was too thick to achieve controllable letters. After diluting with water, the colour was too faint to see. Pebeo makes a line of fabric markers for lettering on wearables; this is the 0.8 mm black marker.

After constructing the 6″ x 4″ box, the book cloth is glued using a mixture of PVA (poly vinyl acetate) and cornstarch paste.

The box is housed in a case binding with a tight fitting lid. Normally, in a hinged box, the wall is glued to the spine, but leaving it unattached allows the text to be seen on all four sides.
