Scribbled Lives Week 5—Words of Wisdom
Oh, so much wise advice to choose from. One that has transformed my work is: “The technical wow is not the same as the heart wow.” Brody Neuenschwander (2005). You know the advice is special when you remember the date and the context.
However, the advice that’s resonating with me these days is:
“It is in the process of doing that I make discoveries, that I find my way. Don’t wait until you have done all the research, got all the right materials, have the right amount of time; just begin. You will find out where you need to go by going.” Laurie Doctor (“A Silver Fraction” blog post November 11, 2019)
I decided to simply launch into Laurie’s style of exploration by writing on a half-sheet of Arches Text Laid without pre-planning. Her advice is featured here using newly-learned techniques—to find out where I need to go by going. More work will be done on the back before tearing down for book pages…or not!
