An assignment to study map making led to a watercolour painting of my studio. After sketching different ideas, a small-town theme emerged. The different work zones in my studio are characterized as storefronts in a community.

At the same time, I was studying book structures with Stephanie Wolff, including a three-layered accordion, also known as a star book. When I needed content for the 3-D structure, a draft of the map came in handy to make a trial. It turned out well, so I went to town deconstructing a print of the map to place in the accordion structure!

In variable editions, each is an original based on the same design; however, may differ in aspects such as colouration and, in this case, landscaping! A soft wrapper protects the book. Hand bound in the artist’s studio.
