Orange Shirt Day

Scribbled Lives Week 39.2—Ode to Joy!

Continuing on the theme of the Truth and Reconciliation blog post, I attempted to work with the folio pocket book structure to make my original concept work.

Pasted paper was used to create the book pages with pockets. The folio pockets hold inserts representing each of seven concepts I had identified as a personal response to Truth and Reconciliation: truth, recognition, partnership, healing, reconciliation, hope, joy.

This book focuses on the other commemoration held on the same day—Orange Shirt Day. The pockets start out opaque and gradually transition to transparent (open windows) as the concepts move from truth to joy.

Orange Shirt. Even when the insert is removed, an orange shirt remains—in honour of Phyllis Webstad.

Still working on a cover for the book, but I think it will be made of (resilient) Tyvek folded into a school book cover.
