Scribbled Lives Week 35—Greeting Card
As a child, I was fascinated by books and cards that had moving parts like flaps, tabs, and pop-ups. They still tickle my fancy, so I attempted to create a card with an interactive component. I dusted off a bin of under-used toys and played. Eventually, the focus became more about structure and less about lettering. What fun!
The experiment resulted in a thank you card that may become the prototype for a holiday greeting. Is it too early to start designing for Christmas?
Gatefold card with locking closure that makes use of stuff in that happiness bin. Brause 0.75 mm nib and walnut ink on Arches Text Wove, various papers and punches.

My first idea was a 3-D structure that folds flat for mailing. It resembles a stack of gifts, but is not realistic for mass card production…unless I hire elves!
